Pottying in the Real World

Enough cyber chit chat! Where is everybody?

Well, if you're lucky enough to have seen a BornReady poster or picked up a BornReady business card, then someone in your local area is looking for you.

Visit the In Real Life forum to find out who.

Find Like-Minded Souls

If there's nothing local to you, perhaps you could start a search yourself?

Do you know of somewhere local that mothers of young children or mums-to-be spend a bit of time?

A children's centre? A midwife clinic? A baby clinic? A waiting room? A library?

Are the owners willing to let you leave a few infant pottying business cards? Could you print off and display an A4 poster (when I've designed one)?

Send me an email (jenn@bornready.co.uk) with a few details and we'll sort something out.

Reach out! Spread the word!

You're glad you're here - you can help someone else to make the same discovery.

Write Something Yourself

If you have a bit more time on your hands, or you're feeling expressive, why not put your own experiences out there in local circles by writing an article for your NCT magazine?

Before the bornready site existed, NCT articles needed to contain enough information to get people started on infant pottying. Now all you need to do is spark some interest and point the inspired in this direction for far more information than they could get from a page of print. Much easier and you can be far more creative.

Think about why you think infant pottying is worth a go - is it the communication aspect, the cleanliness, the environmental impact of disposables, the loss of a deep rooted skill over two generations? Is it something for everyone whatever their parenting style (my philosophy) or very much a part of the attachment parenting package? Make your point with passion.

If you want to take inspiration from those who have gone before you have a look at the articles below:

  • My article - written in 2011 for the Havering HomeGrown and the Croydon BabyTalk publications.
  • Sarah's article - written for the Winter 2010/11 Kensington and Chelsea branch newsletter.
  • Eva's article - written for the Winter 2010/11 Kingston Upon Thames magazine..
  • Emma's article - written for the Autumn 2010 Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale branch newsletter.

(If you've written an article that I can link in this section, please let me know. Email jenn@bornready.co.uk )

What is the NCT?

The NCT is the National Childbirth Trust - the UK's leading charity for parents.

Most British Parents are aware of them thanks to their antenatal classes and nearly new sales but they are also involved in parenting issues on both national and local levels.

Local NCT branches are run entirely by volunteers yet most still produce a professional looking magazine on a regular basis. Find your local branch here.

Picked up a BornReady business card?

Or found this website via an NCT magazine article?

Then someone in your area is looking for you...

Nothing local to you?

Why not try to find a few like minded souls yourself?

Ask for some business cards, or write an article for your NCT magazine.
